Sacred marriage is a sacred agreement between a female and a male. In this agreement, the union of each of the two individual's natures is necessary for each to know themselves in God. This kind of relationship is accepted and surrendered to by both people and is organized entirely by God. The sacred nature of a relationship of this kind is capable of increasing the life-force energy on earth, and can change reality and the course of history.

This kind of relationship, though connected to the sexual nature of each person, is not based on relationship involving sexual relations of any kind. A sacred marriage can exist between friends, parents and children, siblings or mates.

Feminine leadership is responsible for Sacred Marriage in that it takes feminine empathic intelligence to be able to distinguish relationship opportunities that can be felt and sensed as sacred. Without feminine leadership, the empathic nurturing of relationship to the highest experiences of God is impossible in woman as well as men. A woman who attains feminine leadership encourages empathic relationship in a man and opens the opportunity for feminine intelligence in both sexes to refine communication and commitment to intimacy.

How Sacred Marriage actually functions is that the sexual nature of each person is honored as sacred to the unique perspective of who each of the two people are as God. How they relate honors the uniqueness of the God-reflection of the other. The integrity of the commitment to this level of relationship allows life to organize completely as God's will. What can happen, therefore, in sacred marriage is that the God-based intimacy of the connection allows God's will to manifest through the acceptance of who each person is and how they express themselves together in the world and in life. Each person births herself/himself into a new level of God presence on a continuing basis due to the level of support that this commitment to relationship engenders.

The relationship of Mary and Jesus is an example of Sacred Marriage experience in how they supported each other as a mother and a son.Together they both encouraged his sexuality to unite feminine and masculine intelligence to such a great degree that he was able to receive himself as the Christ. In the process, she too grew to allow her unity with Christ consciousness.

Similarly, Radha reflected Krishna in a sacred marriage in order for him to accept himself as Lord of God's Light. The reflection, in turn allowed Radha to be a leader in society.

Anandamayima reflected Paramahansa Yogananda as a woman who owned herself as God. This reflection allowed Yogananda to transcend the limitation of embodiment. When he died his body never decayed.

Sacred Marriage is unique to each person as God. The refinement of the sexuality of each person in the relationship allows an experience of transcendence through union of feminine and masculine which is orchestrated completely by God.
